August 23, 2011Shame on me!!! The third post into the life of this very website and I missed it. I have a good excuse though: busy with travelling, work and life in general. To make up for it I just post it like nothing ever happened.
This picture was taken at sunrise at Retezat National Park in the Romanian Carpathians. It actually is a HDR picture and consists of 3 individual pictures. We went hiking for a few days and camped next to the lake pictured: lake Bucura. Not a bad view after waking up! Retezat is a PAN Park, which means it is certified based on a criteria system including principles for wilderness protection and sustainable tourism. The national park includes about 80 glacier lakes, including this one and the many we saw later this day from Retezat it's highest peak Peleaga at 2509 metres.
Check http://www.panparks.org/ for more information on PAN Parks. Also keep a close eye at the news section of this website for a trip report to Retezat National Park.
