Monthly pic September 2011

Canon 50D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro, 1/200, f/3.2, iso 200, handheld.
This baby hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) moves around in its nest besides its sibling. These where born quite late this year as hedgehogs need to fatten up in order to survive the winter. Hence, I am bit worried about their chances for survival. Either way they are extremely cute: 4 cm of pink mammal, their eyes still shut, but their quills are already coming through. Also check my mammal gallery for more funky hedgehog mug shots.

My next pic of the month will only be posted by the end of october. Stay tuned for some - hopefully - awesome pics of the African continent and its wildlife!
