Monthly pic January 2013

Snow topped mountain peak in Switzerland.
It seems I stick to last months mountain theme :) With all the snow laying around there where plenty of good photo opportunities the last couple of weeks. The nearby dunes where covered in white, making it very easy to see the coming and goings of rabbit, fox, roe deer and many other animals. Picturing Wildlife was on the move as well, but relocating to our new house and very busy with construction. I can't wait to get back into the field, but we are nearly there with the end result looking pretty good and already feeling like home. More space also means a cozy study for me with the option to convert it into a little studio. I'm looking forward to try my hand at that!

With not many new photo's I dug into my archives and found this particular landscape to fit with the snowy conditions that rapidly melted away after we hit another temperature record. It's the permanent snow line your seeing in this picture, since it was taken at the end of summer in the Swiss Alps. During a wonderful hike we observed the ever vigilant Alpine marmot (Marmota marmota) and saw glimpses of afar of the Alpine ibex (Capra ibex). My next field trip is probably closer to home, but I hope to share some new photo's with you all soon. Cheers!
