Cuttlefish

Definitely not the greatest shot in the world, since I could only use my standard build-in flash, but… what an encounter! Some friends and I went diving at the Oesterdam in the Oosterschelde to try our luck at spotting some Common Cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis). It’s their mating season right now and they come into the river delta to mate and deposit their eggs. Well, at the end of the second dive we got lucky and encountered a group of about 10. Especially the males can reach impressive sizes of around 50cm! This particular male and female were backing up, away from this funny looking underwater mammal.
